System Is Frozen
Troubleshooting guide for when ICATS controls stop responding or the screen is stuck.
If your ICATS system is running but controls are not responding, follow these steps.
Symptoms
- Keyboard or remote inputs are ignored
- The projected image is stuck on one drill or screen
- The Raspberry Pi appears powered on but unresponsive
Likely Causes
- Large drill loading: Some operations temporarily freeze the UI while processing.
- Software hang: A rare software issue can lock the interface.
Fix Steps
- Wait briefly: Some operations (loading large drills, updates) can temporarily freeze the UI. Wait 30 seconds before taking action.
- Try the keyboard shortcut to exit: Press Escape or the configured exit key. If using the phone app, try force-closing and reopening it.
- Power cycle: Unplug the Pi power, wait 10 seconds, plug back in. The system will restart from scratch — no data is lost.
Still Not Working?
Still stuck? If the system continues to freeze:
- Check that the power supply meets the 5V / 3A minimum
- Try a different SD card if this happens repeatedly
- Contact Support with details about what you were doing when it froze
