Shortcut Keys
ICATS is designed to be used from the keyboard.
Learning just a handful of shortcuts will make practice faster and far less frustrating.
You do not need to memorize everything at once.
Memorize these first (high value)
These keys are used constantly. Learn these before anything else.
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| l | Open File Manager |
| Esc | Close dialogs / go back |
| Enter | Load selected drill or confirm choice |
| ↑ / ↓ | Next / previous drill in the current folder |
If you know only these four, you can run full practice sessions smoothly.
During practice (quality-of-life keys)
These help you experiment and learn without leaving the table.
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| A | Show / hide Aiming Ball |
| b | Blank display while you shoot (press any key to return) |
| g | Toggle grid on/off |
| h | Flip layout horizontally |
| v | Flip layout vertically |
Use these sparingly at first — they’re tools, not crutches.
When something looks wrong
These help recover quickly without restarting.
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| ? | Show full shortcut list |
| Esc | Close stuck menus or dialogs |
If a shortcut doesn’t work, check whether a dialog or menu is still open.
A good learning strategy
Don’t overload yourself
Start with the first table only.
Add one or two new shortcuts per session as they become useful.
